- Samantha Good is graduating this June with the unusual distinction of being in the headlines--internationally, "VIU Grad Discovers Two-Million-Year-Old Skull while Attending Field School in South Africa." VIU News, June 14, 2021.
- Kirsten Van't Schip, who is a June 2021 graduate, had an opinion piece published, Perspective: Commemoration and Contestation (Powell River Peak, July 1, 2021).
- In the news again is research work undertaken by a former student, Nancy Greene. - Congratulations to Kirsten Van't Schip, VIU 2021, as one of 20 individuals accepted in the AAA-sponsored The OpEd Project.
- Christine Roberts, from Weiwaikum Nation, VIU 2012, was featured in a VIU Facebook post about Life after VIU: working as an archaeologist, December 1, 2021 .
- Samantha Good's 2018 find continues to be newsworthy, this time noted in the online publication of the Council on Undergraduate Research, December 2, 2021.
- Two former Anthropology majors were the Valedictorians for the 2021 Semélshun Aboriginal Grad Recognition Ceremony: Zakary Myers (VIU 2014) and Randy Cormier (VIU 2019). Zak, who is now working at Capilano University, as an Indigenous Student Success Facilitator, received a graduate diploma in teacher leadership, while Randy graduated with his second BA, this time in History.
