Alumna Focus
Linda Horner found herself over 50 years old and unemployed because continuing in her chosen field required a degree. Having previously completed more than two years of university study, she returned to VIU to take a Liberal Studies major, including a set of courses put on in Prague by Liberal Studies Abroad.

“The instructors and staff in the Liberal Studies Program supported my plan to complete my degree in record time by doubling up on courses. I worked very hard and learned more than I ever thought I could. It didn’t take long, and before I knew it, not only had I been to Prague to study, but I was taking another journey … down the aisle at the Port Theatre to get my degree. I experienced a personal metamorphosis. I earned my BA and have now secured a top level job with the government. I have broken out of the herd: nothing can stop me now.”
