Course Structure

ILMC 100 must be taken first, then ILMC 110, 120, 130, and 140 can be taken in any order. ILMC 150 requires the completion of all five face-to-face courses before the student is able to register in ILMC 150. ILMC 150 is an on-line course that takes place over one semester.
The credits provided through this Certificate can be used for undergraduate credit at Vancouver Island University, enabling students to ladder the skills and experiences gained through this Certificate into an undergraduate degree.

Course Delivery

The Certificate will be offered as five intensive (one week) full time (9:00 am to 4:00 pm) courses, followed by one online course.
Students will proceed in a semi-cohort model, with the potential for completing the course over an intensive summer session/fall semester combination or over multiple years.
The face-to-face courses will all involve field trips, experiential learning, and engagement with local First Nation communities. The online course will be shaped around a course hub that encourages connections among students.
