In the event that any VIU campus needs to be closed, an announcement is made on the Website and in an all-employee email message, and a message is left on the switchboard. Additionally, local radio stations are contacted to broadcast the message.

Please refer to the Policy for specific details on closure procedures.

Students registered in any number of credits who receive less than a 2.00 ("C"), Grade Point Average over the Fall and Spring semesters combined will be placed on probation when they register next.

Grades June 3, 2025 - 7:55am

Semester grades must be entered into VIU's Student Record System within 5 days of the last day of exams, using the Grade Entry screen on the web and standard Grade values. If a grade has not been submitted by an instructor within this time frame, a grade of NGS (No Grade Submitted), will be entered by Registration.

Syllabi seem to vary in two fundamental areas—the apparent reason for writing the syllabus and the material that it contains. The purpose of the syllabus should drive the decision as to what content to include (Parkes & Harris, 2002).

Three major purposes that a syllabus should serve are described by Parkes and Harris:

  • Syllabus as a contract
  • Syllabus as a permanent record
  • Syllabus as a learning tool

Accounts Receivable will preload the charge to the student record. 

The students then will pay via online banking.

The Student Assignment Drop Box is located on the 3rd floor of B356. It is to be used as a last resort for students to drop off assignments that cannot be submitted during class or office hours, or by special arrangements.

Please inform students about this option for submitting assignments in your course outlines, put this poster on your office door, or explain the practice in class.
